Poor Baby Continued...

As you can see from the picture Greyson did not improve over the last few days so we are checking out the pediatric wing of Lewisville Medical Center.

I called our doctor this morning because he sounded worse than before, so she had us come to the office again today. As soon as she checked him out she decided that we needed to put him in the hospital for observation because he's not breathing as well as he should be. We're praying that it's just this one night because he is so not a fan of being poked and prodded--who can blame him?!

I'll keep you all updated as I have time...it's going to be a long night...

Poor Baby!

Well, it happened...Greyson got his first cold. I have no idea how this happened! He hasn't been around anyone who is sick, I wash my hands like a crazy person, he's breastfeeding which is supposed to guard against this kind of thing, and when we go places he doesn't leave his carseat! But, nevertheless, the poor baby feels awful!

So, it all started on Sunday morning when he woke up sounding a little stuffy, but otherwise he was alright. Then, on Monday it was worse. He couldn't breathe, so we asked Michele (the family doc--we are so lucky to have her!) if there was anything we could give him. Unfortunately, he's so young that pretty much you can give him saline drops and suction it out (which must be the worst thing on the planet according to the reaction we get everytime we do it). At that point we didn't know that it wasn't as bad as it was going to get...

Monday night was awful! He could not breathe AT ALL and was miserable, which meant that he couldn't eat and was even more upset! He would sleep for about 5 minutes then startle awake and start screaming bloody murder! So we were awake from 12:30 am and NEVER went back to sleep! No fun at all!

On Tuesday morning we loaded up and went to the doctor's office. They said he was pretty bad and told us a few things we could try to help, and they sent off a swab to test for RSV. When we left they had worked on him for a while and suctioned a bunch out of his poor nose so he acted like he felt much better--sorry for the childless folks, this is kind of gross! haha We were all able to sleep that afternoon and last night was much better! He is still really stuffy, and the doctor said that he would be like this for the rest of the week, ugh!

I'm sad that this had to happen, but I am so thankful that it happened this week so that I can be home with him before I have to go back to work. I can't imagine how we are going to do this when I am back at school! SO not looking forward to that! There will definitely be a round of flu shots at this house, and I think I better stock up on the vitamins! Pray for our poor baby so that he can be a healthy baby by next week!

Starting Early...

On Saturday, Greyson made his inaugural trip to Hobby Lobby. We're starting him early! I'm sure, just like his Daddy he will grow to loathe this store, but right now he doesn't know any better! :)

Morgen bravely agreed to accompany us on this trip out and about. She was also there for another first, eating at a "restaurant." We went to Rosa's before our trip to Hobby Lobby and it went really well! Jared and I are terrified of being "those parents" whose kid goes nuts at the restaurant, so we haven't tested it out yet, but I think we can do it now.

Oh the Joys of Motherhood...OR Why I Will Never Eat Taco Bueno Again...

Where to begin dear reader...Doesn't Greyson look extra clean today? Strange question you say? Well, let me explain this mornings events.

The morning started off alright, not a lot of sleep per usual, but not too bad, the sun is shining, the baby is happy, all is right with the world...WRONG! We have been in a diaper buying dilemma this week. Greyson is almost too big for the newborn diapers, but doesn't quite fit into the size 1 diapers yet. We have been buying newborn diapers a pack at a time so that we aren't stuck with a stockpile of too small diapers. If you've ever bought diapers before, you know, as we quickly determined, that the smaller packages are a big rip off, and the big box of diapers is a much more economical choice. So, this morning we are down to the end of yet another package of newborns, so I texted Jared to pick some up on his way home. THIS IS WHERE IT ALL GOES DOWNHILL! He asked me to test out a size 1 to see if we should finally purchase the bigger size of diapers. So, I decide that right before I feed Grey that I will put him in a size 1 and then I will change it after we are done to see how it goes because this kid goes through diapers like a champ. BIG ROOKIE MISTAKE PEOPLE!

I finished feeding him, burping him, and then I took him to his room to change his clothes. I take off his diaper, and notice that WOW this is a pretty bad one, Taco Bueno is on the no-no list with coffee now... As I start to clean him up I notice, man these diapers are too big and it leaked a little, no big deal right? Then as I start wiping away at the top of his bottom, I start having to wipe higher and higher up his back until I am basically wiping his neck!!! He managed to poop ALL THE WAY up his back into his hair!!! NO ONE TOLD ME THIS WAS A POSSIBILITY! haha Luckily, the sleeper outfit he was wearing encapsulated most of the poop so it wasn't all over me yay! (I can't believe I just had to type that sentence) Fortunately for you all reading this blog I decided it would be in poor taste to document the evidence. Ha!

So, long story short, I just washed poop out of my child's hair. End of story...not so fast...As I am lifting him out of the bath tub he starts to pee all over himself AND ME! So I had to rinse him off again! If it wasn't so comical, I might cry! I know I am fully initiated into the motherhood now because instead of taking a shower myself, I just changed shirts!
Clean tushy!

Our New Favorite Thing

Greyson has discovered rolling over, and he loves it! Everytime he's on his stomach now he immediately starts rolling onto his back. It's so funny!

Here is a video showing his skills! Please excuse my terrible videotaping.

Labor Day...Away We Go!

I'm a little behind on my posting, but we had a great Labor Day weekend! It started on Thursday evening for us since Jared took the day off. So, we packed up to hit the road for our first family roadtrip! I was unprepared for how much stuff it takes to load up for 4 days with a baby! It was ridiculous! Since I'm now relegated to the backseat, Minnie is very happy with the new arrangement since she gets to sit up front! I have no idea what we are going to do when we go out of town for Christmas and have to cram gifts in the car!

Thursday also happened to be my Mom's birthday so it was nice to get to be there. As soon as we got into town, we went to see Nanny and Pappaw's house so that Greyson could meet them! It was great! I can't wait to take him back! I spy some potential babysitters! Greyson also received his first $100 bill, and I'm sure he'll need more grocery money soon! :)

Friday morning Greyson got to meet Kara! So cute! I think he charmed her!

On Saturday, we hung out at the house and watched the UT game! Of course, Greyson was properly outfitted. :) Then that night we celebrated Mom's birthday with the family. She still hasn't decided on a "Grandma" name so we're testing them out. I think the top picks so far are Nana, Mama C, or Birdie. Dad still hasn't decided, but says he's going with whatever Greyson picks for him...so we'll see!

Sunday we traveled to Tipton so Greyson could meet Mema and the Oklahoma relatives. While we were there, something crazy happened, and my child was kidnapped and dressed in these terrible colors...:) It was pretty funny, but I think it's going to be a rare event! haha We are so excited that Grey was able to meet everyone! I think we found some more possible babysitters!

Future Gerber Baby.....

maybe not...not because he isn't cute enough, because come on look at the kid, but because getting these pictures was exhausting!! He decided that he would be WIDE AWAKE for our photo session. I'm sure he was just trying to be helpful, but good lord it made for a long 3 hours! Rebecca, the photographer, did an awesome job though! She was so good at getting him to calm down and pose just right.

Below is the link to the photos we were able to get. Hopefully, I will feel like being in front of the camera so that we can take Christmas card pictures with her too! Enjoy!

By the way, the outdoors shot is not photoshopped as some have asked. She took it behind her house! Isn't it awesome!

One Month!

On August 30th Greyson turned one month old! We can't believe it's already been a month! It has flown by, but you can definitely tell he is getting bigger. He has almost outgrown his newborn clothes, and he is fitting into most of his 0-3 month outfits. Of course, since he is our child, the 0-3 month clothes are a little long on him :)

He isn't a huge fan of having his picture taken, but as you can see he is showing how smart he is--yes honey, one month does equal 4 weeks! (Thanks Kendra for the super cute month stickers!)

Greyson is starting to stay awake during most of the day and also, unfortunately for us, his favorite time to be awake is from about 9-11 p.m. when Jared and I would like to go to bed! He has started to sleep a little longer though, and we are so thankful for that! He usually sleeps about 4-5 hours after his last evening feeding, and will wake up once during the middle of the night again to eat.

He loves to throw his hands in the air. Also, whenever he is up and at 'em and you are holding him, he LOVES to bob his head back and forth. He thinks it's pretty great to throw that head around! You have to watch out though because he is so strong! He busted my lip about a week ago, and another time he and I head-butted and neither of us enjoyed that experience...He has also finally started to smile at us while awake, and it just melts my heart! He is such a sweet, happy baby, and we are so lucky that he is a relatively easy baby too.

At his one month check up, he weighed in at 10.05 pounds, and he is 21.5 inches long. His pediatrician said that he is perfectly healthy and right on schedule for his age. His eyes are still dark blue, so we shall see if they continue to stay that color. It's crazy to me that I might have a blue eyed child!

Grey is going to go on his first road trip this weekend to Wichita Falls, so I will report back on how that goes. I am so excited for him to meet his great-grandparents! Nanny, Pappaw, and Mema are so excited and looking forward to meeting their great-grandson!
