Rolling Over & Crying It Out

If you read this blog you know Greyson has been rolling over from his tummy to his back for a while now. Well, lately he's figured out how to go from his back to his tummy! Very exciting!

Greyson has also been sleeping in his room for about a month. But, for the last week or so he decided it would be super fun to scream/yell (not cry) every hour on the hour until about 3 am EVERY night (by the way I have to get up at 5 am for school--you do the math!). So either Jared or I (mostly Jared--love him so much!!) have been getting up to check on him and make sure he's alright. We have this fear that he's going to wedge himself against the side of the bed, and both of us newbies freak out when the monitor makes it sound like he's beating the bed to death kicking it so hard! So, we made the decision to let him cry it out and see what happens.

Everyone told me how hard it would be and how upset I was going to get, but I don't think these people realize that I feel like a walking zombie from getting woken up ALL night long. So, I figured the little man could take it for a little while. Not surprisingly, he yelled at us 3 separate times for about 20-30 minutes each the first night. He never actually cried though, little stinker! I can't imagine where he gets his need for attention (ahem-cough-Jared...)! But, each night since he has gotten better and better! I'm so proud of him! He's getting so big!

BUT, now we get to the part where the title of this post comes into play! The last two mornings Jared and I have walked into his room to find this!









Needless to say the new Mom in me freaked completely out when I saw this! But he's sleeping so well this way! We will still put him to bed on his back, but I say keep on rolling little man!!

Welcome to Texas!

Last night we finally got to meet little Graham Wagoner! Oh yeah, and we got to see his Mom too :) He is such a little cutey! I think he and Greyson bonded over how crazy their Mom's are...haha!






We are so excited that they came down to stay with us, and we can't wait to meet back up in Wichita Falls over the holidays!

Every Girl's Crazy 'Bout a Sharp Dressed Man...

I don't know if you all know this, but Greyson is a bit of a clothes horse! Ha! The kid has so many outfits (thank you GG, Nana, Mommy, Daddy, etc., etc.) that we have to try really hard to get them on him more than once! And, now that it's winter, we have matching hats for our outfits! Greatness! I'm sure all of this will come back to bite us, and he will turn into the kid that wears clothes off of the floor, but right now when he literally doesn't have a say...we love to dress him up! Here are some of our recent faves...

4 Months Old!

What?! How is that even possible!? I know I'm shocked too, Greyson! This last month has flown by! We've been so busy with Thanksgiving and now getting ready for Christmas, that it seems like Halloween was just yesterday!

Our little man has grown so much in the past month! We went to the pediatrician on his 4 month birthday, November 30th, and he now weighs in at 15 lbs., 6.5 oz., and he is 24.75 inches long! He is in the 50% for weight and height. But, he has a big noggin! He has to wear 6-9 month hats to fit him! (we're telling ourselves it's because he needs all the room for his big brain:) And, while at his appointment, the nurse made a comment that his "Daddy must be a tall man..." um, not so much, but we are taking that as a sign that Grey might still be able to hold out hope for some tall genes! Good luck buddy! I'm still waiting to grow my last couple of inches! haha

He is still obsessed with his feet! It's so funny! As soon as he remembers they are there, you can't get him to focus on anything else. We had family pictures taken, and we took some naked baby pictures, and as soon he got those socks off it was all over in the smile department! That is why his 4 month pictures (above) are so interesting! haha You basically have to surprise him so he looks up and then he goes right back to those feet.

We are still in the major drooling phase, so I feel like all we do is either change his clothes or his bib constantly! And, anything in his hands, including his hands, go straight into his mouth! Yuck! I think this means we are probably about to start teething. We'll see!

During this last month, there have been a lot of BIG firsts for Greyson! He got to go on a major shopping spree with Mom and Nana. Up until this point, he has just been to one or two stores at a time, because we didn't want to push it. He did really well though, except for in one store where we had to carry him the ENTIRE time or he would get angry and yell. Yes, I said yell! He does this thing where he isn't crying because he is upset, but he yells at us instead. (Funny for about 5 minutes...)

He also got to experience his first Thanksgiving, which I'm sure he will enjoy much more when he actually gets to taste all of the great food! Especially, Nanny and Pappaw's dressing! Yum! In Altus, he got to play with all of his cousins. Kannon and Kolson LOVE him! Kannon especially wants to hold him and love on him. SO cute! I think Kolson is waiting for him to be big enough to play. And, of course at both of the Thanksgivings he never sat down on his own, and was passed from person to person the whole time. So spoiled! :)

He also got to see a Christmas tree for the first time! Once we put up the living room tree, every time we walk by it, he stares at it like, "where did this thing come from?!" So cute! I can't wait for him to experience Christmas! I know this year he will be more interested in the wrapping paper than the gifts, but I just love the holidays so much and I hope he does too! I also can't wait to start our own traditions with him.

Another BIG first is that he is officially sleeping in his room now. So far, it's been a little rough, but not too bad overall. He likes to make sure we are still around at about 3:30 a.m. every night, but he goes back to sleep. He did really well over the break for Thanksgiving, but he had a little separation anxiety afterward (kills me!), and fussed a little more than normal. But, we seem to be better lately.

And, last but not least, we are branching out into new food territory with some rice cereal! I am such a new Mom too, because I had no idea what to buy, what kind to buy, or how much to give him! I'm so type A that I need explicit instructions for this sort of thing, so thank goodness our pediatrician gets me and told me exactly what to do. (sarcasm...) So, thankfully there are lots of people out there to clue in me! He seems to like it! It was a little like trying to spoon feed Stevie Wonder, but I figure eventually he will figure it out! Cereal was everywhere! He had it all over his belly and legs, so much for the bib! Also, the first day he ate it he conked out and slept for 2 and a half hours afterward, so we thought that maybe we should try it before bedtime. Good try Mom and Dad because apparently food at nighttime means it's party time! So, we are back to daytime feeding! haha

I Am Thankful...

I am thankful for restful mornings off of work with snuggly, sweet Greyson.

Santa Came Early...

Greyson loves his new bouncer! It lights up and has all kinds of moving parts, and he thinks it is the greatest thing ever! He's a little too short for it (obviously he's our child) so we had to stack some cushions under him! Haha


He gets so excited about it that he can only take about 20 minutes at a time because he wears himself out! We looked away last night and before we knew it he had fallen asleep!

Happy Halloween!

We love Halloween at our house, as you can see from all of the pictures in previous posts! So, we were very excited to dress Greyson up in his costume! It was a little tough to find anything that I really loved since he is so little, but I think we did alright.

I started out by ordering the cutest little duck costume! It was adorable and the size I ordered claimed to be "newborn," but clearly it is not! haha It was so cute though! It has a hat with a duck bill, and little booties with orange and yellow webbed feet! Oh well, maybe he can wear it next year, or when he's 4! Sheesh!

Here is our little pea in a pod! I hope that one day he loves to dress up and be silly on this day as much as his parents do!

3 Months Old!

Greyson turned 3 months old on October 30th! He is growing up so fast and developing the cutest little personality!

We are firmly in 3-6 month clothing territory, but he can still wear a few 0-3 month outfits. We had to cram all of the 0-3 month clothes in over the last couple of weeks so he could wear them all at least once, and we just barely made it! I'm a little sad that he won't be able to wear some of his clothes anymore, but I think I'll be even sadder when I finally get in his closet and start to put them away! :( I can't believe my tiny baby can fit into some of the clothes that I thought looked so big just a month ago!

He can finally hold his head up really well, so I can put him in the bumbo and let him watch me get dinner ready after school. I love it because I feel like I can spend time with him without having to stop everything and hold him all the time---I didn't get alot accomplished before the bumbo stage when I started back to work!

He is also a big "talker" these days. He is so funny! He just jabbers on and on and watches you so intently when you talk back to him. I can't wait to hear what is going on in that cute little head of his. It sounds a little squaky most of the time, but every once in a while you can hear his "voice" when he yells at you! haha It's hilarious! My very favorite talking moments are right after I feed him and he looks up at me from the corner of his eye and coos and grins like he couldn't be any happier. Greatest moments ever!

Greyson is becoming quite the mover and shaker too! I think he would run around the room if he could! He kicks his legs so hard that he shakes his pack and play back and forth! (Yes, he's still in our room...I just can't let him sleep alone yet! More on this later.) He has also started to try to grab for things, and when he can't quite get to it, he gets so frustrated! Poor thing! He is still rolling from his tummy to his back, but he can't quite make it from his back to his tummy. He has just started to scoot around a bit though. He will be facing one way on his play mat, and inch-by-inch he will squirm his way around until he is facing the other direction. I can't believe that we are going to have a mobile little baby soon.

Unfortunately, his other latest development is that he is completely aware of his surroundings now. The reason I say unfortunately is that is it IMPOSSIBLE to get him to smile on camera anymore! He is the happiest little baby, but the second you put a camera in front of his face he looks like he needs baby prozac! He sees the camera and I guess he isn't as happy to see it as he is your face. I swear we're going to look back at this stage and think he was so unhappy from all the pictures with no smiles! I can't explain how frustrating it is to see him laughing and smiling and then BAM he sees the camera and it's like his arch nemesis made an appearance. His GG painted the cutest pumpkins for him and all we wanted was one smiling picture of Greyson with the pumpkins. After Jared, Jimmy, Di, and I spent about 20 minutes straight of baby talk, singing, playing, rattling, you name it, we gave up! I tried on 3 separate occasions to get a picture and I got nothing!!! Oh well, at least the outfits and pumpkins got to have some camera time. Nana made a go of it as well, and she struck out too! I'm hoping he gets over this by Christmas, or those are going to be some sad pictures! haha The only time you can get smiling pictures are if you go in for the sneak attack with the camera and he doesn't see you beforehand.

The best development of all is that he is sleeping through the night! (please don't let this post jinx it!) He has been sleeping from about 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the last 3 weeks, and I couldn't be happier! I was so worried about how I was going to make it when school started. I think he's doing his poor Mom a favor! Thanks son!

Like I mentioned before, he is still sleeping in his pack and play in our room. In my defense, I have tried to put him in his room a couple of times, but I wake up everytime he makes a peep, and so I have to go check on him. This means I get absolutely no sleep when he's in there all alone! I told Jared he's going to be in our room until he's 10! haha I am going to try to get him in his room on a permanent basis over the Thanksgiving holiday week when I have more time to make the transition. I'll keep you all posted on how that goes...

There is one more thing I better mention about Grey's first 3 months on this earth, or Daddy Jared won't forgive me! Greyson has been able to share in the Rangers experience with his Daddy! The Rangers, Jared's favorite baseball team forever and always (as in he watches EVERY SINGLE GAME THAT THEY PLAY every season) made it to the World Series for the first time, and he gets to experience it with his son! He gets so excited to dress Greyson in his Ranger gear, and "watch" the game with him! It's so sweet! I can't wait to show Greyson the pictures one day. He almost got to go to the WS game with us, but we decided he might be a little young for the crowd and the noise. Hopefully they will make it back again one day so that they can go to the game together. Until then , I know that there will be plenty of games to watch together.
